To Baker the long way....

Saturday we decided to seek out some culture out here in our corner of Oregon. We were able to get the last two tickets to the play "Nunsense" in Baker and decided to make a day of it by getting there the long way. It was a great day- it didn't rain and the Elkhorns and the Wallowas were out. The play was great and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for some good entertainment.

A view from the top!
From Catherine Creek State Park we drove to Medical Springs and through Keating

Looking at the Elkhorns and Powder River out between Medical Springs and Keating- it was amazing out here!
From Keating we headed see some wagons!

 Oregon Trail Interpretive Center
We didn't have time to make the two mile hike- but you can hike down and still see the wagon train ruts.

Looking down at the Baker Valley from the Interpretive Center with the Elkhorns in the background.

Hike for Turns Anyone?

 Gunsight Peak, Elkhorn Mtns
Saturday was a bluebird day which reminded us that happier, sunnier days are around the corner. We decided to bid farewell to our wonderful ski season by hitting the slopes one last time. The weather was amazing and you could see all the way to Mt. Adams from the top of the ski hill in NE Oregon. The snow was perfect spring snow- we even had six or so inches of powder to boot. We hiked to the top of Anthony Lakes in snowshoes and then skied down, then we did it all over again- fresh tracks every time! We were happily exhausted and sunburned a bit by the time we got back to the car- but, holy cow, was it an amazing day!
It was really bright out, but if you look hard, you can see our tracks down Avalanche

Hells Canyon

We will start with a few pictures of our spring break backpack trip into Hells Canyon. Hells Canyon is pretty much the most amazing place ever- these pictures don't even come close to doing it justice.
Hells Canyon is where the Snake River punches through Idaho and Oregon. It is the deepest gorge in N. America and full critters- note the elk at the bottom of the above picture.
Our pack dogs, Ramo and Friday.

Here goes nothing!

We are jumping in with both feet! After prompting from family and friends we are going to face our biggest fear- technology- to help keep everyone updated on our adventures near and far! Stay tuned :)
Peace and blessings friends!
